P1 AquaX

AquaX is the fastest growing personal watercraft championship in the world. Its rapid growth is owed to a simple, yet challenging race format that appeals to today’s personal watercraft users.

This year the program will include the unveiling of a professional level race series and expansion of two further championships in the Great Lakes region of the USA and in Southeast Asia.

Dustin extends championship lead on Lake Michigan

The second round of the SBT P1 AquaX 2024 series kicked off on Saturday in Washinton Park, Michigan City with the AM Enduro class racing in fine weather and calm waters.

Valentina Lezcano came out swinging in the AM 300 class with an impressive win over Ian Smith and Canadian rider Ryan Dalli. Cayman Island racer Cline Glidden put in a solid performance to take 4th place.

AM Enduro 200 was equally exciting with Cooper Caldwell leading the pack followed by Kayden Baldwin and Enrique Chia.

The PRO Enduro class raced next with exciting battles start to finish, but it would be Deven Farthing taking the checkered flag ahead of his father, Dustin and Chris Macclugage in third place. All three riders were representing Monster Energy.

The AM Enduro were back on the water to finish out the day and it started with war on the water. Valentina Lezcano pushed hard and it seemed that she would take a second win for the weekend. However, an old injury came back to haunt her, causing her to dislocate her shoulder. Even so, Valentina managed to maintain good pace with a 3rd place finish in race 2. Ian Smith capitalized on Valentina's misfortune and took the win, with Dalli rounding out the top 3.

AM 200 powered through with Cooper Caldwell taking the top spot. Kayden Baldwin claimed 2nd place and Cayman Island XINSURANCE rider James Monroe Jr finished third.

Sunday's racing was delayed due to stormy weather, but when it cleared the PRO Enduro riders were on the water battling it out. This time Dustin Farthing managed to keep Deven at bay to take the victory, with Jay Edworthy in 3rd place.

The final AM 300 Enduro race of the weekend saw Ian Smith take the top spot together with an overall win for the weekend after disqualification for a technical infraction for Valentina. Dalli took 2nd place with Glidden in 3rd.

The young guns took the top steps in AM 200 Enduro with Cooper Caldwell riding consistently into 1st place and Kayden Baldwin in 2nd. James Monroe Jr, flying the flag for the Cayman Islands, impressed by finishing third in two of the heats but his failure to finish in the first heat resulted in Peruvian racer Enrique Chia claiming third place overall.

With PROs back on the water for the final time for the weekend, race 3 did not disappoint. Deven rode hard but an impressive dismount cost him dearly with not being able to finish the race. Dustin Farthing pushed hard from start to finish with a second win for the weekend, followed by Camden Powell and RIVA Rider, Chris Landis taking 3rd. The podium went to Dustin Farthing followed by Jay Edworthy with Deven managing to secure enough points for the 3rd overall position for the weekend.

Much thanks goes to The City of Michigan City and to Visit Michigan City / La Porte for their warm welcome and event support.

The next AM Enduro race will be in LaPorte, Indiana on July 27th and 28th. The next PRO round will be in Kissimmee, FL over the weekend of September 20-22.
